How To Stop Your Puppy From Biting

The incredibly sharp teeth that puppies appear to have may cause you some pain.  You must attempt to stop your young dog from developing this practice of biting.  In order to stop your puppy nipping different strategies may have to be tried.  Any tiny irritating or bad habits shouldn’t receive a reward.  If you want your puppy to grown up into that excellent family pet, you’ll need to be responsible for helping him.  Dog behavior is rarely “good” or “bad” it’s just behaviour.  It is going to take some time, but stopping a puppies nasty habits should be done and just requires using these dog training tips.

The boisterous behaviour for a litter of puppies involves plenty of nipping and biting.  Nipping and biting their new owners is extremely common for puppies and will be the 1st problem they have to overcome.  All new puppies take a role in this behavior, but as a new member of your family actions will have to be brought to control it.

When your pup bites you, quickly give him a pointy tap on the nose and say “NO”.  If you tap the nose softly the puppy is only going to assume that you are playing.  A shy correction is a meaningless correction.  One stronger tap on the muzzle, that gets the puppies attention could prevent your puppy biting.  Another way to go is, immediately after he bites, grab his muzzle with one hand, point at him with the other, and strongly say “NO”, this may eventually let him know that biting is the incorrect behaviour.  Your little dog may pick it up rather quickly, or it may take a little time, just remember to show some patience.  You’ll at last be able to correct your pup verbally when he understands what is going on.  This verbal “NO” order is going to turn out to be really handy when he starts gnawing on your shoes, socks, newspapers or anything more laying around for him to test his teeth on.

Another way of directing him away from biting you and your personal items is doggy bones and gnaw toys.  When the teething stage hits he’s going to need something to munch and bite on so the chew toys get to serve another purpose.  Whatever chews you choose need to be acceptable, they are going to need to be in a position to square up to the intense gnawing by pointy teeth for an lengthy time period.  Be careful of toys that are to little or poorly made because they are able to break off into s miniscule pieces and get stuck in their throat.

While playing with your dog, don’t inspire him to bite and play coarse or it may become a bigger challenge to stop puppy biting, it’s best to elude any unacceptable behavior traits at this point.  It is going to take some time to mend the problem regardless of what system you opt to use.  All puppies go thru certain stages in their life and puppy biting turns out to be one of them.  Don’t fret though, you’ll be able to get thru the biting stage, just stay firm and patient and employ these dog training tips.
