Golden Retriever Puppy House Training Tips

If you remember anything from this article, please remember this:  Do NOT punish a dog for going potty in the house! Be patient with your Golden Retriever pup. Puppies cannot hold it as long as older dogs. If you catch your puppy eliminating in the house, interrupt them with a loud noise or whatever cue you have chosen for “bathroom.” Rush them outside so they can finish up and then immediately praise them with “good boy,” or “good girl,” or whatever you prefer.  If they do not go to the bathroom in the yard, they may have already finished inside. Don’t give them a treat, since they didn’t “go” outside, but don’t yell at them or hit them either. Punishing your Golden Retriever pup will confuse them and it won’t do anything to help dissuade them from going potty inside.

How to Stop a Dog from Shedding

If you want to stop shedding, you don’t have to spend a lot of time or energy. Consult your vet or pet shop employee to find the right brush for your dog and then spend 3-5 minutes every day or two brushing your pup to help them get rid of extra fur. An excellent way to stop dog shedding that many people don’t even consider is to give your puppy frequent baths. This will help get rid of some of that hair. A vacuum and a broom also do wonders to get rid of pet hair in your house.
